HYDROGEN PEROXIDE GAS GENERATOR FOR PUMPING HIGH POWER CHEMICALS LASERS
Hydrogen peroxide is a premier propellant for many applications due to its unique features as a monopropellant, non-toxicity, and many other attractive and unique features specially for pumping of high power chemical CW lasers.
PEROCHEM has dramatically advanced the state of the art for hydrogen peroxide catalyst power density. Typical catalyst beds operated at mass flux levels of 0.3 lbm per sec per square inch.
PEROCHEM catalyst beds can operate at or above 2.0 lbm per sec per square inch. Catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide is exponentially related to the temperature and the adiabatic decomposition temperature is strongly dependent on the hydrogen peroxide concentration. Long life is a common desire with catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.
PEROCHEM has demonstrated> 7000 seconds of life with high purity H2O2 90% and these demonstrations did NOT show end of life, the parts were still operating within specification and behaved as if significantly more life remained. Life well in excess of 7000 seconds is a reasonable assumption.
